Seymchan

Seymchan was found in Russia by geologist F. A. Mednikov while conducting a survey of the area.  A mass of 272 kg was discovered in June 1967 and a second specimen was found in October.  Subsequent expeditions have yielded additional specimens of pallasitic content.

Seymchan is a pallasite, but it is considered anomalous due to its high iron content. Before the discovery of its pallasitic structure it had been classified as IIE anmalous coarse octahedrite. Seymchan is stable and rust-resistant.

Photos of the egg from the side.

Bottom of egg.

138 gram polished egg.  It is 55 mm in diameter.  Making an egg results in a lot of cut loss and labor, making them rarely offered for sale in pallasitic meteorites.  Note: Due to the rising cost of Seymchan and the large cut loss incurred to make an egg, these are no longer being made.   - $6,500-

151.6 gram slice.  Etched on one side and polished on the other side.  This slice measures 116.2 mm by 111.0 mm by 2.6 mm thick.   Highly Translucent  - $2175-

667 gram slice.  Etched on both sides and polished has a polished border around the etching on one side as shown in the second photo.  This unique slice measures 336 mm by 117.0 mm by 3.9 mm thick.  - $8900-

Beautiful 253 gram polished sphere.  It is 44 mm in diameter.  This was difficult to photograph due to the reflection of myself, sky, and camera.   Making a sphere results in a lot of cut loss and labor, making them rarely offered for sale in pallasitic meteorites.  SOLD
