Circle the Cirque Crest
Day 6 Thursday, September 9, 2004
Bench Lake was so beautiful and we were ahead of schedule, so we decided
to take a day off to relax and explore the area. This was the only day that we had
any clouds to speak of for the whole trip. This made Brian happy because he likes
clouds in his photos. So we spent the whole day fishing, vegatating on the rocks enjoying the views, taking photos and hiking around the lake. In spite of the fact that this lake is only two miles from the John Muir Trail, we did not see anyone else the whole time we were here. Bench Lake is about .6 miles long and has several islands and finger coves. Arrow Peak rises up southwest of the lake and makes a great photo with the lake in the foreground. There are also several ponds near the lake. This lake is only second behind Evolution Lake as my favorite lake in the Sierra. All the following photos were taken around Bench Lake and the little ponds that were near it. |
